NEW YORK — Warriors point guard Stephen Curry pledged to honor a fan who was slain in a Chapel Hill, N.C., triple homicide.
So even after his shoes mysteriously came up missing, Curry stayed with the plan. He took to the court on All-Star Saturday wearing shoes that read "#Curryfor Deah" and "RIPDeah."

The man whose life Curry remembered on this night was Deah Shaddy Barakat, who was one of three victims shot to death on Feb. 10 near the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. The other two victims were Barakat's wife, Yusor Mohammad, and his wife's sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha.
"I've been following the story all week," Curry said. "There's been a lot of supporters of him and his family, Deah and his family. Obviously, having North Carolina roots, and once I got to know who Deah was as a person and the stories everybody was telling me, it only seemed right to honor him and his family, and hopefully they know that people are thinking about them.
"They're not alone, and hopefully it can give them some kind of peace and comfort knowing that he was a special guy. And I just did mt little part to shed some light towards him."
