The Boston Celtics had lost their last 11 games against the San Antonio Spurs. That changed Monday night.
Kyrie Irving tallied 24 points and dished out six assists while Jaylen Brown chipped in 18 points to lead Boston to a 108-94 home victory over San Antonio. Brandon Paul tallied 18 points to lead the Spurs in the losing effort.

The win was Boston’s fifth in a row since it dropped the first two games of 2017-18.

9:16 p.m.: San Antonio gets to within six after a 3-pointer by Rudy Gay. But Jaylen Brown follows by converting all three free throws after he was fouled and then he hits a 3-pointer to extend Boston’s advantage back up to 11. After a San Antonio free throw, Marcus Smart hits a three at the buzzer.

8:54 p.m.: We’re back for the second half in Boston. Irving opens the period with a 3-pointer to put the Celtics ahead 57-49.

8:38 p.m.: The Celtics head into the locker room with a five-point advantage. Irving took over near the end of the quarter and finished the half with 16 points and five assists for Boston.
