The Boston Celtics had lost their last 11 games against the San Antonio Spurs. That changed Monday night.

Kyrie Irving tallied 24 points and dished out six assists while Jaylen Brown chipped in 18 points to lead Boston to a 108-94 home victory over San Antonio. Brandon Paul tallied 18 points to lead the Spurs in the losing effort.

The win was Boston’s fifth in a row since it dropped the first two games of 2017-18.

Final Score: Boston 108, San Antonio 94

9:48 p.m.: It’s gone final in Boston as the Celtics cruise to the easy win. Irving finishes with a game-high 24 points, while Brown totaled 18. Horford tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds in the victory. 

9:35 p.m.: Terry Rozier has poured in 10 fourth quarter points and the Celtics lead has grown to 95-76 with 7:18 to play.

9:26 p.m.: Daniel Theis elevates and rejects Rudy Gay’s layup attempt early in the third quarter. 

End of third quarter: Boston 80, San Antonio 67

9:16 p.m.: San Antonio gets to within six after a 3-pointer by Rudy Gay. But Jaylen Brown follows by converting all three free throws after he was fouled and then he hits a 3-pointer to extend Boston’s advantage back up to 11. After a San Antonio free throw, Marcus Smart hits a three at the buzzer. 

9:04 p.m.: Al Horford has already recorded a double-double for Boston. He has 10 points and 10 rebounds as the Celtics lead 66-53 with 6:40 to play in the third quarter. 

8:54 p.m.: We’re back for the second half in Boston. Irving opens the period with a 3-pointer to put the Celtics ahead 57-49. 

Halftime: Boston 54, San Antonio 49

8:38 p.m.: The Celtics head into the locker room with a five-point advantage. Irving took over near the end of the quarter and finished the half with 16 points and five assists for Boston. He was joined in double-figures by Brown, who has totaled 11 so far. The Spurs are just three-of-nine from the free throw line. 

8:21 p.m.: The Celtics rally to tie the score at 39-39 but San Antonio answers with a 3-pointer and a layup to retake the lead with five minutes remaining in the half. 

8:14 p.m.: San Antonio opens the first four minutes of the second quarter on an 11-1 run to take a 37-31 lead. The Spurs have received 20 points off their bench so far, including nine from Rudy Gay. 

End of first quarter: Boston 30, San Antonio 26

8:06 p.m.: Boston leads by four at the end of the first quarter. Brown and Irving each scored nine points in the period to lead the Celtics, while LaMarcus Aldridge added nine for the Spurs. Brandon Paul stymied a Brown drive to the rim with this big block earlier in the quarter. 

7:59 p.m.: Great passing here from the Celtics leads to a wide open dunk by Al Horford.

7:47 p.m.: Jaylen Brown finishes a crafty layup in transition to tie the score at 10-10 with 7:27 left in the first quarter, forcing a San Antonio timeout. Brown and Kyrie Irving each have four points so far for Boston.

7:40 p.m.: We’re underway in Boston. Kawhi Leonard is out of the lineup again for San Antonio.

6:40 p.m.: The Celtics-Spurs game will air on NBA TV

6:30 p.m.: Kyrie was clutch Saturday night against the Heat to give the Celtics their fourth straight win.
