Sixers' Tony Wroten needs surgery, likely out for season image

If the 2014-15 campaign wasn't already painful enough for the Sixers, the road just got a little more bumpy.

The team announced Friday that leading scorer Tony Wroten will require surgery to repair a partial tear in his right ACL, likely ending his season. Wroten sustained the injury on Jan. 13 against the Hawks.

Losing the 21-year-old guard will be a significant loss for the struggling Sixers, as he provided an energetic scoring threat capable of creating his own shot. Wroten is averaging 16.9 points per game this season.

"I don't think there's anybody else that could do what he did," head coach Brett Brown told the media. "He was such a kamikaze, attacking, fearless, competitive player that the city just fell in love with."

The exact timeline for Wroten's surgery and recovery is still to be determined.
