Rockets break NBA 3-point records in 9th straight win image

The Rockets and James Harden made history Friday night as they topped the Pelicans for their ninth consecutive win.

Houston is among the NBA's most shot-happy teams, and it took that status to an all-time high level by setting NBA records for 3-pointers made (24), attempted in a half (31) and attempted in a game (61) in its 122-100 win over New Orleans.

Eric Gordon led Houston with seven 3-pointers made, while Trevor Ariza led the team with 14 attempts, knocking down five.

Harden was 6 of 12 from deep as he finished with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists to pass Hakeem Olajuwon as the Rockets' all-time leader in triple-doubles (15).

The Rockets (20-7) will look for their 10th straight win Saturday as they travel to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves.

Stud of the Night

Dwight Howard had 27 points and 15 rebounds as the Hawks topped the Raptors 125-121, ending Toronto's four-game winning streak. Howard has 15 or more rebounds in three of his last four games.

Dud of the Night

The Bulls only scored 69 points in their second loss to the Bucks in as many nights. The Bulls shot just 30.4 percent from the floor in the embarrassing 26-point loss. Dwyane Wade was the only Bulls starter in double figures (12) but was a minus-22 on the night.

Highlights

The Lakers' Julius Randle put up a season-high 25 points on 10-of-13 shooting, including this reverse dunk, in a win over the 76ers.

Brook Lopez was on the receiving end of a handful of dunks by Magic players, but this Jeff Green dunk takes the cake.

What's next

Trail Blazers (13-15) at Warriors (23-4), 10:30 p.m. ET — The Bay Area hasn't been kind to Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers. Over the past two seasons, Golden State has averaged a 16.8-point margin of victory at home against Portland, which hasn't won in Oakland since Nov. 23, 2013.
