Spike Lee is viewed as the quintessential New York Knicks fan, a man armed with courtside seats and intimate knowledge of the team.
Based on that reputation, it makes sense for Spike Lee to produce a documentary on the Knicks' new offense, which was ushered in when general manager Phil Jackson took over the reins. Spike Lee was commissioned to explain the offense in an MSG Network documentary entitled, "What is the Triangle Offense? A Spike Lee Orange and Blue Skies Joint."

Jackson is aware of Spike Lee as a fan and fixture within the Knicks culture, he just doesn't respect him as a basketball mind. In a recent appearance at The New Yorker Festival, Jackson was asked about Spike Lee. He responded with an answer that might not sit well with the No. 1 Knicks fan.
Phil said of Spike Lee, "Spike is an avid Knicks fan who doesn't know anything about basketball."
