Paul Pierce admits he wasn't injured during famous wheelchair game: 'I just had to go to a bathroom' image

The 2008 NBA Finals represented everything Paul Pierce had ever wanted in his career. Pierce's Celtics won the title over the rival Lakers, and he raised the Finals MVP trophy after averaging 21.8 points, 6.3 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

The series also gave him a defining moment. Pierce exited Game 1 in a wheelchair with what appeared to be a serious knee injury, but he triumphantly returned to lead the Celtics to a 98-88 win — or at least that's the version Pierce had us believe for all these years.

Ahead of Game 3 of the 2019 NBA Finals on Wednesday night, "The Truth" told, well, the truth to the broadcast crew of Michelle Beadle, Jalen Rose and Chauncey Billups.

"I have a confession to make," Pierce said on ABC. "I just had to go to a bathroom."

Pierce's admission confirms a conspiracy theory that had been pushed on NBA Reddit for years. It turns out there was no damage done to Pierce's knee.

No. 34 just had to take a No. 2.

Give Pierce a little bit of credit here. He shared this information right before a pivotal Finals game. That's a perfect news dump.

UPDATE: Pierce is upset with the haters for... something? This doesn't make much sense. No one forced him to talk about that game on national television.
