No Rudy Gobert, no problem for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who stole Game 2 from the Nuggets, 106-80, on Monday. Gobert, the 2024 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, was back in Minneapolis for the birth of his son while his team was putting on a defensive clinic in Denver.

Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves with 27 points apiece, and Towns added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Naz Reid and Nickeil Alexander-Walker each had 14 points off the bench, as well.

Minnesota held Nikola Jokic to 16 points and Jamal Murray to eight points in the win, and the Nuggets only managed to shoot 35 percent from the floor. The Wolves had 11 steals and 12 blocks in their stellar performance on both ends of the floor.

Gobert will be back in the lineup for Game 3, adding another threat for the Nuggets to overcome. Now down 2-0, the defending champs will have to take at least one in Minnesota to return home in the series and avoid the sweep.
