Denver Nuggets forward J.J. Hickson has been suspended five games for his violation of the NBA anti-doping program, the league announced.

Hickson's suspension will kick in at the first game of the 2014-15 regular season. A five-game suspension is typically assessed after a third positive test for marijuana.

Hickson, who has been recovering from an ACL injury, is expected to be available to play when the season starts. He averaged 11.8 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Nuggets before going down with the injury.
