Two of the NBA’s premier big men square off when Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets battle Lauri Markkanen and the Jazz on Wednesday night.

Jokic, the two-time NBA MVP, is compiling another sensational season. The domineering center is averaging 26.1 points, 11.9 rebounds and 9.1 assists per game.

Recently, Jokic flashed his flair for the dramatic, too. Last Thursday, Jokic buried a 39-foot three pointer at the buzzer to down the Warriors. Denver, meanwhile, is in the midst of an extended stretch of great basketball: the Nuggets have won 12 of their last 15 games to remain near the top of the Western Conference.

Jokic will likely spend time against Lauri Markkanen, who has come into his own the last two seasons with Utah. After averaging a career-high 25.6 points per game last year, Markkanen has looked just as sharp this season, posting 23.6 points per contest. And, after missing time with a hamstring injury earlier this season, Markkanen is now fully healthy.

This marks the second meeting between the two sides this season. The first occurred back on October 30; Jokic posted a 27-point triple-double to spur the Nuggets to victory. Markkanen, meanwhile, poured in 27 points and 14 rebounds in the defeat.
