"Swaggy P" had a banner year, but Nick Young did not. The Lakers' colorful shooting guard did manage to explain away his and the team's struggles, though, with quotes pulled straight from his alter-ego's playbook.

“Blame it on the rim," he told reporters Tuesday (via ESPN's Baxter Holmes). "The rim was tripping this year. Next year, I'll take her on a date & treat her better."

Young hasn't played since Feb. 22 because of a broken kneecap, which might as well be another metaphor for the 21-60 Lakers. Young shot 36.6 percent from the field before his injury, so his frustrations with the rim are easy to understand.

"Let this season go," he said (via Bleacher Report's Kevin Ding). "This season never happened."

Lakers fans would love to, though the team's 4-10 record over the past month puts its 2015 NBA Draft pick in jeopardy. (The 76ers own the pick if it falls out of the top five, giving the Lakers a 17.2 percent chance of losing it.)

But things aren't so bad for Young. He spent this season becoming crossover-level famous because of rapper girlfriend Iggy Azalea, who gave him a 1962 Chevrolet Impala for Christmas and probably has helped keep his two employed shoekeepers busy.
