NBA trade rumors: Heat have inquired about deal for Wizards’ Bradley Beal image

The Heat are apparently looking to add another star.

Miami has inquired about a potential deal for Wizards guard Bradley Beal, according to a report from the Miami Herald, which cites an unidentified league source.

The Heat “love” Beal, the report says, however, he said Washington has told him he won’t be traded.

“(Ownership and the front office) have been very transparent and that’s been great,” Beal told the Washington Post in late June. “They’re not keeping me in the dark about anything, even about the trade rumors. … It’s great having that peace of mind.”

Beal, 26, averaged 25.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 82 games for the Wizards last season. He shot 47.5% from the field and 35.1% from 3-point range.

The two-time All-Star, who has spent his entire career in Washington, has two seasons remaining on the five-year, $128 million deal he signed in July 2016. He told the Post he’d be open to inking another extension with the Wizards.

“I have thought about it but I haven’t really full-out processed it,” Beal told the Post last month. “I still have two years left. We just drafted Rui (Hachimura) and I want to see what we do in free agency before I make the ultimate decision.

“I haven’t even been offered it officially. Until that happens, I’ll wait and think about it. I’ll have an ample amount of time to process everything and make a decision when the time is right."

The Heat, meanwhile, have reportedly agreed to acquire Jimmy Butler from the 76ers in a sign-and-trade. They are also sending center Hassan Whiteside to the Trail Blazers, according to multiple reports.

In order to add Beal, the Wizards might consider taking back John Wall, as well, according to the Herald. Wall, a five-time All-Star, inked a four-year supermax contract with Washington in July 2017.

Wall ruptured his Achilles in February and it’s unclear if he’ll return in 2019-20.
