NBA playoffs 2019: Raptors’ Danny Green addresses recent shooting struggles image

Danny Green is confident in his shot.

The 31-year-old guard has knocked down just three of his 13 field goal attempts through the first two games of the Raptors’ second-round series with the 76ers. He has also missed eight of his 10 3-pointers.

Green, who hit a career-high 45.5% of his shots from behind the arc during the regular season, discussed his recent struggles when he met with reporters Tuesday.

"Sometimes they're just off the mark,” Green said, via TSN. “A couple of them felt really good. ... But some games it goes that way. Next game you put it behind you and you think the next one's going in."

Green’s biggest miss came late in the fourth quarter of the Raptors’ Game 2 loss to Philadelphia. Toronto was trailing by three with a little more than 10 seconds to play when Green received a pass from Kawhi Leonard and had a wide-open look from 3-point range.

But, his shot rolled off the rim and the 76ers went on to win 94-89.

"Just like any competitor, you wish you could get that shot back," Green said, via Sportsnet. "Mentally, I’m thinking, ‘Next one’s going in.’ I know I had a chance to tie it up for my team. And it’s the playoffs. You want to win, you want to compete, you want to go out there and make big plays. That’s what we live for.

“But, obviously, we have more basketball to play. Hopefully I get another opportunity."

Leonard said the team is still “confident” in Green.

“He's been here before and we've all been there during the season,” Leonard said. “It's just magnified now because it's the playoffs. Most of the time he does hit it.”

The Raptors and 76ers enter Game 3 on Thursday at the Wells Fargo Center with the series tied 1-1. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. ET.
