NBA playoffs 2019: Curry family affair in Western finals is ‘dream come true’ image

The extended Curry family won’t have to make split travel plans to support their sons in the NBA playoffs any longer.

With their win over the Nuggets on Sunday in the second round, the Trail Blazers and Seth Curry have a date with the defending champion Warriors and brother Stephen Curry in the Western Conference Finals.

This is the first meeting of brothers in the conference finals in league history.

"It's a dream come true for both of us," Seth Curry told reporters Sunday. “So many years I’ve watched Steph play in the Western Conference Finals, the NBA Finals being in the crowd. It’s going to be fun being out there on the court competing to get to that finals.”

Sonya and Dell Curry said they’ll flip a coin before each game to see which parent roots for which son when the series starts Tuesday.

"It's going to be so much fun," Sonya Curry told ESPN.com. "It is. From our end, to see both of our sons to compete at this level and for the goal to be a championship is such a blessing. We never could imagine this.

"One of them might go home. But we're going to the championship!"

This postseason milestone is just another for the Curry family this season as the brothers each competed in the 3-point contest during All-Star weekend in their hometown of Charlotte. Neither Curry brother won the event, but Stephen holds a 7-2 advantage over Seth in head-to-head matchups throughout their NBA careers.

Stephen Curry is a far more decorated player and is enjoying another productive playoff run, including a vintage performance in a Game 6 clincher against the Rockets on Friday with 33 second-half points. However, Seth Curry has been a solid contributor in Portland averaging 5.4 points in just over 19 minutes per game in the playoffs — his first in six seasons.

And considering Stephen has his three championship rings and a montage of playoff moments, Sonya Curry hopes Seth gets his shine.

"I actually look forward to watching Seth and doing that. I want him to steal the ball and want him to shoot over Stephen and all that good stuff," she said. "I want him to have his moments too.”
