NBA legend explains why Jayson Tatum is not seen as the next face of the NBA image

NBA legend Carmelo Anthony went on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, and revealed why Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum is not seen as the next face of the NBA. According to Anthony, Tatum has no “aura”, and cited Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards as someone who has it, and why he has been chosen as the next face of the NBA.

By aura, Anthony means personality. Edwards is cocky, but he has the means to back it up. After the 2024 playoffs, it is clear Edwards can run the league one day, and when Lebron James and Steph Curry hang it up, he may be the face of the NBA.

However, Tatum’s personality is seen as corny by fans, and the way he idolizes NBA legend Kobe Bryant is cringeworthy.

The main problem with Tatum is the fact he was drafted to a great team, the Celtics. So when Tatum fails, either in his personal stats or his team success, he faces huge amounts of criticism. When he succeeds, his accolades are diminished because he’s always been on a playoff team. He’ll always have to fight critics in order to have a chance to be the face of the NBA.
