The Celtics emphatically protected their home court against the Mavericks in Games 1 and 2, and they now have a 2-0 series lead as the 2024 NBA Finals head to Dallas for Game 3.
Jrue Holiday was the hero for Boston in Game 2, scoring a team-high 26 points on an 11-of-14 shooting effort that featured just one miss inside the arc. While not yet finding his scoring touch, Jayson Tatum dominated the game in other areas. The All-NBA forward played lockdown defense and filled the box score with 18 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds.
The Mavericks came out of the gates strong behind another inspired showing from Luka Doncic, who scored 23 points in the first half. He finished the game with 32 points, 11 boards and 11 assists, but Dallas got another pedestrian effort from Kyrie Irving (16 points on 7-of-18 shooting).
