The Denver Nuggets have been crowned 2023 NBA champions after defeating the Miami Heat in five games, closing out the series on their home floor. 

With a 94-89 win in Game 5, the Nuggets sealed the win in thrilling fashion behind another huge performance from Nikola Jokic, who recorded 28 points, 16 rebounds, and four assists on 12-of-16 shooting.

Jokic's dominance through the Finals was nothing short of monstrous, averaging 30.2 points, 14.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.4 blocks on 58.3 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from the 3-point line, earning him the Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy.

The No. 41 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Jokic becomes the lowest-drafted player in NBA history to be named Finals MVP and the first player drafted outside of the top 15 to win the award.
