The Celtics and Mavericks are ready to collide in the 2024 NBA Finals, starting with Game 1 on Thursday night at TD Garden.
It has been two years since Boston stepped onto this stage — and 16 years since it walked off the floor with the Larry O'Brien Trophy. The Celtics' front office has made all the right moves to build a title contender, surrounding Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown with terrific role players like Jrue Holiday, Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis, who is slated to return from a calf injury.
Dallas won its last championship in 2011 behind the dominance of Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki. The Mavericks are hoping that they can reach the mountaintop again, this time behind the play of Luka Doncic. Of course, he has gotten plenty of help from Kyrie Irving as well as supporting pieces like Derrick Jones Jr., P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II.
