NBA Finals 2019: Draymond Green explains exchange with Drake image

Warriors star Draymond Green explained the conversation he had with Canadian rapper Drake after the two exchanged words at the end of the Warriors' loss to the Raptors in Game 1 of the NBA Finals.

"It wasn't really a scuffle because I didn't hit him and he didn't hit me, and I didn't push him and he didn't push me," Green told reporters Friday. "We talked. We barked a little bit, but I wouldn't necessarily consider that a scuffle, not really what I personally would consider a scuffle."

Green passed by the rapper on his way back to the locker room after the Warriors fell 118-109 on Thursday. While Drake appeared to be in a playful mood, Green wasn't having it. Stephen Curry later stepped in and separated the two.

“Drake talking on the sideline, like, I think so many people make a big deal out of it,’’ Green said (per USA Today). “It is what it is. He's a fan, he talks. And it gets more attention because he’s Drake.

“So many people have complained about it, like you don’t let any other fan do that. Yeah, any other fan just not Drake. So he probably shouldn’t be able to do that. That’s just kind of how the cookie crumbles."

The NBA reportedly spoke to the Raptors about Drake's sideline activity ahead of the series. The rapper has received attention and scrutiny for his courtside behavior, but Green doesn't think it was necessary for the league to address Drake's antics.

“He’s worked his a— off to be who he is,’’ Green said. “We all know when you do that you get more leash than others. … But I don’t mind it. It’s fun for me. So, yeah, it is what is is."

The Warriors will look to even the series in Game 2 on Sunday with tipoff set for 8 p.m. ET (ABC) in Toronto.
