MORE: All-Star Weekend fashion show | NBA All-Star uniforms
NBA commissioner Adam Silver appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Monday night in advance of All-Star Weekend, and the topic at hand was an obvious one — the New York Knicks.
Letterman made cracks about the Knicks leaving town before he jumped right in on team owner James Dolan, who was spared a fine after he sent a nasty e-mail to a disgruntled fan.
"We talk," Silver said with a smile. "He's got a lot of passion."
The Knicks questions kept coming, as Letterman went into the strategy utilized by team president Phil Jackson. "When is that going to take fire?" Letterman asked.
"Phil's just getting started and there's no shortcuts to winning in this league, and it's going to take him some time," Silver said. "But he's doing all the things that's necessary."
Wait, there was more. Letterman suggested that New York should be the hub of baseball and basketball, to which Silver responded, "It will be this weekend, for the All-Star."
