In advance of All-Star Weekend in New York, with events in Brooklyn and Manhattan, the NBA created an interactive website detailing the history of basketball in the country's largest city.
It is all encapsulated in a map filled with basketball details, which includes the traditional NBA greats, but also shines a light on early players, legendary coaches and stars in the parks of Brooklyn, The Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Players are tied to high schools and parks with lines, headshots and blurbs, creating a web of basketball greatness.

Each borough also has a pulldown tab that shows the names of players from each part of town, with video highlights attached to select players. With the All-Star Game being played in Madison Square Garden, the Mecca of Basketball, it makes sense for the league to celebrate New York.
The city's connection to the game is serious and expansive, and this is a clean and exciting way to look back on well-known basketball figures and learn about lesser-known ones.
