'NBA 2K' Players Tournament results: Devin Booker tops Suns teammate Deandre Ayton for title image

NBA fans would have been enjoying the last week of the regular season if not for the coronavirus pandemic that shut down live sporting events across the world. They still got to see some of their favorite players in live competition Saturday during the semifinals and finals of the "NBA 2K" Players Tournament.

The semifinal rounds were best-of-three series. The first matchup was between Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell and Suns guard Devin Booker, with Booker sweeping. The second semifinal pitted Suns center Deandre Ayton against Clippers guard Patrick Beverley. Ayton advanced in that round in two games to set up a finals series against his teammate.

Semifinals

Montrezl Harrell vs. Devin Booker

5:05 p.m. — Booker goes with the Clippers, while Harrell rolls with the Rockets. Interesting matchup, looks like Booker might have the advantage as Harrell is forced to play against his own team.

5:14 p.m. —  A competitive game early on, but Booker closes the first quarter on a 7-0 run to lead 17-12.

5:24 p.m. —  It's raining threes on both ends. Booker and the Clippers have made six already, Harrell and the Rockets have made three. Booker leads 35-27 with a minute to go in the second quarter.

5:29 p.m. —  Booker leads 39-28 at halftime. He's shooting 67 percent from the field and is having fun with his dog during the break.

5:37 p.m. —  Booker is pouring it on now as Harrell says he's lagging. Booker leads 50-39 with 1:42 to play in the third quarter.

5:42 p.m. —  Booker leads 55-40 at the end of the third quarter and he's talking a lot of trash towards Harrell while locking him up with, you guessed it, Harrell.

5:48 p.m. —  It looks like Booker is gonna cruise to the championship, he leads 60-44 with 3:08 to play.

5:52 p.m. —  Final: Devin Booker wins it 68-54 and takes a 1-0 lead in the semifinal. Game two set to start in a few minutes.

6:04 p.m. —  Booker goes with the Raptors in Game 2, while Harrell, facing elimination, goes with the superteam in the Bucks.

6:09 p.m. —  Another competitive start in game two, Booker lead 13-12 with 1:33 left in the first quarter.

6:12 p.m. —  After one quarter, Booker leads 18-15 thanks to another 3-pointer from Fred VanVleet.

6:20 p.m. —  Harrell ties it up on a layup by Robin Lopez, but Booker goes back ahead 27-25 on a layup by Siakam, 2:20 left in the second quarter.

6:28 p.m. — Half: it's tied 31-31 as Harrell gets a layup with Robin Lopez in the final seconds. It's been a back-and-forth game so far, with Booker trying to punch his ticket to the championship and Harrell trying to stave off elimination.

6:38 p.m. — Harrell is starting to find a rhythm with Giannis Antetokounmpo as he leads 41-36 with 3:49 to play in the third quarter.

6:44 p.m. — Booker surges back to take a 54-50 lead at the end of the third quarter. He's one quarter away from advancing to the championship.

6:53 p.m. — It's been a low-scoring quarter, Booker leads 60-56 with 1:30 remaining.

6:55 p.m. —  Booker nabs a steal with Fred VanVleet and makes a free throw to extend his lead to 63-60 with 11.8 seconds left.

6:57 p.m. — Final: Booker wins 65-62 to sweep Harrell and advance to the championship. He'll face the winner of Deandre Ayton and Patrick Beverley.

Deandre Ayton vs. Patrick Beverley

7:04 p.m. — Ayton goes with the Nets, which threw off Beverley, who switched last-second from the Clippers to the Celtics.

7:11 p.m. — Beverley goes ahead on a layup with Kyrie Irving. He leads 13-11 with 2:00 left in the first quarter.

7:14 p.m. — It's all tied 18-18 at the end of the first quarter. Neither player able to get much of an edge early on.

7:26 p.m — Ayton takes a 33-31 lead at halftime on a basket by DeAndre Jordan.

7:37 p.m. — Ayton gets out to an early push with an 8-point lead but Beverley cuts it to 48-45 on a layup with 1:08 in the third quarter.

7:41 p.m. — Beverley takes a 54-51 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Big turnaround for the trash-talking veteran.

7:56 p.m. —  Final: Ayton wins game one 75-69 and is one game away from advancing to the championship.

8:10 p.m. —  Beverley, facing elimination, goes with the Nuggets. Ayton, to everyone's surprise, chose to go with his Suns.

8:15 p.m. —  Ayton gets out to a fast start with a 13-5 lead, 2:41 left in the first quarter.

8:27 p.m. —  Ayton still cruising as he forces Beverley into a timeout, 30-21 with 2:57 left in the half.

8:30 p.m. — Halftime: Ayton leads 35-29. Jevon Carter has 12 points, because of course he does, and nearly made another 3-pointer at the buzzer. But Beverley is still within striking distance.

8:40 p.m. — Ayton is starting to dominate with himself as he leads 51-38 with 1:52 to play in the third quarter.

8:43 p.m. —  After three quarters, Ayton leads 56-44 and is one quarter away from advancing to the championship.

8:53 p.m. —  Beverley cuts it to five, 66-61 with 1:20 remaining.

8:56 p.m. —  Final: Ayton wins 74-67 and advances to the final to face his teammate, Booker, in the final. What an impressive performance from the young man.
