Miles Bridges arrest warrant, explained
According to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the county clerk of court, an arrest warrant for Bridges was issued that dates back to January. It was not immediately available to view because it had not yet been served.
WSOC's Jessica Allen and Glenn Counts reported on a separate incident that occurred in early October. A police report states that Bridges violated the protective order during a custody exchange with his ex-girlfriend, with whom he has two children.
ESPN's Baxter Holmes obtained a copy of the report, which describes the allegations:
Bridges is accused of throwing billiard balls at her vehicle while the children were inside it, smashing the windshield and leaving dents in the car, according to the summons. He is also accused in the summons of threatening her that if she "told the police he would take everything from her and withhold child support" and that he "allowed his current girlfriend to yell, scream and kick the victim's car while the children were inside it." The summons does not say if the woman was in the car.
As reported by The Charlotte Observer, court records show that Bridges turned himself in to authorities at the Lincoln County Sherriff's Office in Lincolnton, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 13.
Bridges, who appeared before a District Court judge early on Oct. 13, was booked and later released on $1,000 bond.
Bridges is again due in court on Nov. 13 for a hearing, per the police report. The 25-year-old is currently on probation for a felony charge of injuring a child's parent last year.
Miles Bridges suspension
After the NBA completed its own investigation, the league announced in April that Bridges would be suspended for 30 games.
As a result of Bridges missing the entirety of the 2022-23 season, 20 of those games are considered served, only requiring him to miss the first 10 games of the 2023-24 season, according to the NBA.
Bridges' suspension came after he allegedly assaulted his former girlfriend in front of their two children in Los Angeles on June 27, 2022.
Bridges was charged with multiple offenses. He pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in November 2022, and other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Bridges last appeared in an NBA game in April 2022.
Miles Bridges contract with Hornets
Bridges was a restricted free agent with the Hornets in 2022, and he was expected to sign a max contract.
Following his arrest, Bridges sat out the 2022-23 season and instead signed a $7.9 million qualifying offer with Charlotte for the 2023-24 season.
The one-year deal gives Bridges the ability to veto any trade and will allow him to enter unrestricted free agency next offseason.
