The Philadelphia 76ers, in desperate need of help in any form, will name Mike D’Antoni associate head coach, according to Philly.com, citing two league sources.
D’Antoni has a 455-426 career record as a head coach with the Nuggets, Suns, Knicks and Lakers. His most successful run was with Phoenix, where D’Antoni won 253 games.

The addition to the Sixers’ staff had been expected since the Sixers hired Jerry Colangelo, the former Suns executive, as chairman of basketball operations. Philadelphia is 1-26 heading into Friday night’s game at home against New York.
D’Antoni joins Brett Brown’s staff with a reputation of being an offensive-minded coach known for an uptempo style. Brown was given an extension last week, making it unlikely D'Antoni would usurp him.
