The Mavericks are looking for a third star to add to a potential starting lineup featuring Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis.

Dallas intends to pursue likely free agents Khris Middleton and Kemba Walker this offseason, according to the New York Times.

Both players were named to the All-Star team this year and Walker is coming off of a career season in which he averaged 25.6 points and 5.9 assists while playing in all 82 games.

Middleton took a small step back in his scoring from last year with Mike Budenholzer taking over the Bucks, but he averaged a career-high in rebounds (6.0) and assists (4.3). He remains very efficient at putting the ball in the bucket, as he has shot better than 45% from the field, 38% from the 3-point line and 87% from the free-throw line in his career.

Elsewhere on the free agent front, the Times reports the Mavericks are not going to be in the mix for Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard or Kyrie Irving.

The report also states Klay Thompson is likely to stay with the Warriors.

Dallas is coming off of a season in which it finished 33-49, which was the second-worst record in the Western Conference.

The Mavericks do return some talent, though, with Doncic and Porzingis, who will be coming back from a serious injury suffered in 2017-18.

And, by virtue of finishing tied for the seventh worst record in the NBA, Dallas will have a six percent chance to land the No. 1 pick in the draft.
