Master P tells fanciful tale about beating Michael Jordan in a pickup game image

Percy Miller isn't Pee Wee Kirkland. He's not a legend in two games, but he likes to think he is.

There's no doubt Master P will go down in rap history. Like him or not, the man took New Orleans to the world by way of Richmond, Calif. There aren't too many people 25 or over in America who haven't jammed to "Bout it, Bout it" or "Make 'Em Say Ugh" at the very least. Furthermore, he was a pioneering Southern hip-hop mogul, and stretched his empire into film, fashion and even sports management well before Jay Z ever thought of doing so.

He even attempted to live out his hoop dreams, playing a handful of exhibitions with the Charlotte Hornets and Toronto Raptors. On Tuesday, P said in an interview he once beat Michael Jordan in a pickup game.

To hear P tell it, his son Romeo Miller (better known as a 'Lil Romeo), who played a couple seasons at USC,  wanted to wear his dad's P. Miller Gear sneakers at a basketball camp sponsored by Jordan. Romeo called his pops, who immediately flew to the camp, teamed up with Gilbert Arenas and Metta World Peace (then Ron Artest) and a couple other college players, and beat Jordan and some other big-name pros, winning his son the right to wear whatever sneakers he pleased.

"They've been 'homeboys' ever since," P said.
