LeBron James is coming off one of the best NBA Finals performances in history, and he apparently wants to take a break from basketball.
USA Basketball is expected to name its 12-man roster next week and is operating with the expectation that James will not be part of the team, according to The Vertical.

James was the Finals MVP after becoming the first player ever to lead all players in scoring, rebounds, assists and blocked shots while ending Cleveland's 52-year championship drought. He has been a member of USA Basketball since 2004.
James isn't the only big-name NBA player to opt out of the Olympics. NBA MVP Stephen Curry, Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook, Houston's James Harden and San Antonio's LaMarcus Aldridge have also chosen not to play.

Even without those NBA All-Stars, Team USA will still have plenty of talent in its quest for a third straight Olympic gold medal. James' Cavaliers teammate, Kyrie Irving, is expected to be on the roster, along with Thunder forward Kevin Durant, Golden State's Klay Thompson and Indiana's Paul George as "locks," according to The Vertical.
ESPN had previously reported that Sacramento center DeMarcus Cousins and Warriors forward Draymond Green have already accepted invitations to play in Rio.
