The Republican party might not be thrilled about its position heading into the 2016 election, but Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has an idea.
Why doesn’t LeBron James try to steal the Republican nomination from Donald Trump when the party holds its convention next month at Quicken Loans Arena, where LeBron does his best work?

"I said, 'You know the Republican convention is tearing up the arena, you should insert yourself in now,' " Gilbert told Cleveland.com amid the Cavs celebrating their 2016 NBA title into early Monday morning. "Maybe they want another candidate now."
There are (more than) a few issues with Gilbert’s proposal.
First of all, James is a Democrat, according to Cleveland.com. He campaigned in 2008 for Barack Obama and may do the same for Hillary Clinton this year.
Gilbert caught another snag in his plan.
"He actually paused for a second," Gilbert said. "He looked up and I said, 'Hold on, the Constitution says you have to be 35 to run for president.' "
James is only 31, putting him on track for a presidential bid in 2020.
