LeBron James says he has no Christmas traditions because he's always on the road image

The NBA learned many years ago it could score TV ratings gold by having its top teams and biggest superstars play on Christmas.

So the NBA's greatest player of this generation, LeBron James, knows he can count on playing just about every Christmas. James and the Cavaliers will visit the Warriors this Christmas Day in a rematch of last season's NBA Finals. Game time is 5 p.m. ET

That will make 10 times James has played on Christmas Day in his 13-year NBA career. And seven of those games have been on the road.

When asked Wednesday afternoon whether his family had any Christmas traditions, James responded, "Not at all."

"I won’t be with my family on Christmas, unfortunately. ... They’re not even here [in Ohio] right now," James said, via ESPN, after the team's shootaround. "They’re in L.A. right now, actually. So, no, we have no traditions. If I can get a home game on Christmas, then we’ll have a tradition."

James just can't get a break, it seems, when it comes to Christmas games. ESPN reported that a few years ago, after James and his defending champion Miami Heat played a road game in Los Angeles on Christmas Day, NBA executive Adam Silver, now the league's commissioner, told him he would make changes so the defending champion could always play at home on Christmas. That's why James and the Cavs will be on the road to face the defending champion Warriors this year.

Maybe next year will bring a home game for James, his wife Savannah, and the couple's three children.
