Lauri Markkanen plans to sign huge long-term contract with Jazz image

Utah Jazz superstar Lauri Markkanen is expected to make a deal with his team for a massive, long-term contract and sign it this Wednesday, per Shams Charania

Yesterday, it looked like Markkanen was going to let his contract expire to test free agency after next season, or to get traded. However, it looks like he is ready to stay with the team long-term, as they are ready to offer him the amount he wants.

While he cannot be traded this upcoming season, by signing a long-term contract he will have more trade value. If the Jazz decide they truly want to rebuild, they can shop Markkanen to other places and get a lot for him, since the other team has guaranteed multiple years of him.

Some top teams that have the assets to acquire him are the San Antonio Spurs, the Golden State Warriors, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. They have enough picks or young talent to make the trade for Markkanen. Teams that could trade away their futures for him include the LA Lakers, the LA Clippers, and the Dallas Mavericks.
