The WNBA's Indiana Fever announced Thursday that the team is planning a tribute night for late local women's basketball Lauren Hill.
The tribute will happen June 14 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse against the Chicago Sky with ESPN2 covering the event. Hill was an inspirational college basketball player from Greendale, Ind., who lost her battle with brain cancer in April.

Her story inspired many and the Fever are continuing to keep her name in all of our thoughts. They have a special night planned for her tribute game.
"Fever President and GM Kelly Krauskopf, Head Coach Stephanie White and star forward Tamika Catchings will welcome Lauren’s family as honorary team captains for the day, as part of a pregame presentation," the team said in a statement. "An Indiana Fever jersey with Hill’s No. 22 will be placed on the Fever bench where it will remain in her honor throughout the game."
That's not all. Fever players will be viewed on the videoboard to offer their thoughts on Hill. The Be YOUnique Fund will donate $300 to The Cure Starts Now for every layup scored in the game, by both teams.
Also, a silent auction will be held before the game on through halftime for donated items from the Pacers, the Fever and Fever players. All proceeds from the auction will benefit The Cure Starts Now.
Last year, the Fever named Hill an honorary team member during a Pacers game. The team was also in attendance at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati last October when Hill made her college basketball debut.
