The Los Angeles Lakers have decided to put their star point guard D’Angelo Russell up for trade. This is the second time the Lakers have decided to trade Russell, the first being back in 2017 when they sent him to the Brooklyn Nets.

This past season, Russell averaged 18 points, three rebounds, and six assists. With these numbers, it would seem odd to trade him. However, his performances in the past two Laker playoff runs have been abysmal.

In the 2023 playoffs, Russell was 10-31 from three, and in 2024, he was 14-44. His regular shooting performance was poor as well, and he was not significantly helping in any other aspect of the game.

If Russell does get traded again, hopefully he has a renaissance season like he did when he joined the Nets.
