More than five years after the blockbuster trade that sent him to the Lakers was finalized, Anthony Davis will face his former team in the inaugural NBA In-Season Tournament.
Davis and the Lakers will battle the Pelicans on Thursday night after eliminating the Suns in the quarterfinal round. Davis and LeBron James combined for 58 points and 23 rebounds in that contest, pushing Los Angeles to a 106-103 victory.
The Pelicans took down the Kings earlier this week with a balanced scoring attack. Six players scored at least 10 points for New Orleans in a 127-117 win, including a 30-point outing from Brandon Ingram, who was part of the Davis trade in 2019.
Both teams are bringing momentum into this matchup as winners in three of their last four games, but only one will advance to the In-Season Tournament finale.
