Kyrie Irving posts lengthy social media response to angry Celtics fans image

Kyrie Irving heard the Celtics' fans harsh words for him even though he wasn't inside Boston's TD Garden on Wednesday night. He had a few things to say in response.

The injured Nets guard did not make the trip to the place he called home the previous two seasons, and he was skewered in absentia. Chants of "Kyrie sucks" pierced the air early in the night as fans voiced their opinions of the point guard who left Beantown for Brooklyn in the offseason.

Irving wasn't about to let that go. His response on Instagram centered on fans and media lacking perspective about sports in general, plus some of his personal struggles through the years. "This Game of Sports entertainment matters more than someone's mental health and well being right?" Irving wrote.

Irving has missed the Nets' past six games with a shoulder ailment. Brooklyn lost 121-110 on Wednesday. Irving's replacement in Boston, Kemba Walker, scored a game-high 39 points in his return from a neck injury.

Irving could return to action Friday when the Celtics travel to Barclays Center for a return visit.
