Many basketball fans are shocked at how successful Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis has been during his first month in the NBA.
The 20-year-old phenom from Latvia isn't one of them.

"I’m not surprised," Porzingis told WFAN's Mike Francesa. "I think we’re just getting started. We’re building something special. We have bad games here and there, but I think we’re on the right way."
The Knicks are 8-7 after winning just 19 games all of last season. Porzingis, the fourth overall pick in last summer's NBA Draft, has been a big reason why. He's averaging 13.7 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game and has scored 20 or more points in three of the Knicks' last five games.

“I’m still expecting bigger things from myself,” Porzingis said. “I’m still missing a lot of shots. I’m still turning the ball over. All of those good games that I had, I still could have done a better job. That’s my mentality all the time. I’m just trying to play as hard as I can every time I step on the floor and help the team win.”
