Kristaps Porzingis injury update: Mavericks big man injures ankle in loss to Cavaliers image

In their 114-96 loss to the Cavaliers on Nov. 29, the Mavericks lost Kristaps Porzingis to a right ankle sprain in the third quarter.

Porzingis was originally listed as questionable to return, but the Mavericks later ruled him out.

Porzingis has appeared in 14 games so far this season. He's found his groove following a slow start, averaging 22.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks on .497/.347/.907 shooting splits over his last nine games.

Porzingis left Monday's game with nine points (4-12 FG), five rebounds and four blocks in 26 minutes of action.

How long will Kristaps Porzingis be out?

It's still unknown if Porzingis will miss any time with the injury and if he does, how long he will be sidelined.

The good news for the Mavericks is head coach Jason Kidd said that X-rays on Porzingis' ankle came back negative.

"I think he stepped on Maxi's foot and so we'll see how he feels tomorrow," Kidd said postgame.

Porzingis missed five straight games early in the season with a back issue.

On the season, Porzingis is the Mavericks' second-leading scorer with 19.6 points per game. He leads the team with 1.6 blocks per game and ranks second behind Luka Doncic with 7.9 rebounds per game.

Following their loss to the Cavaliers, the Mavericks sit in fourth place in the Western Conference standings with a 10-9 record.
