The Knicks have contacted Frank Vogel's agent as they search for a new head coach, according to the New York Post.

The report says the Knicks have not requested an interview with the former Pacers coach; instead, they wanted to find out whether Vogel would have interest in the job.

"I think the Knicks wanted to see where Frank’s head is at," a source told the Post.

Knicks president Phil Jackson has interviewed former Cavaliers coach David Blatt. He also showed interest in Luke Walton, who was hired by the Lakers last week to be their new coach.

The Pacers announced Thursday they would not bring Vogel back after the team lost to the Raptors in the first round of the playoffs. Pacers president Larry Bird wants to improve Indiana's struggling offense and Vogel is known as a bright defensive mind.

The Rockets reportedly are also interested in Vogel.
