NBA free agency does not officially open until June 30. But speculation is already running rampant.

At a time when eyeball emojis dominate free agency discourse on social media, Warriors impending free agent Klay Thompson added fuel to the fire by reportedly unfollowing the franchise on Instagram and deleting (or archiving) some of his own posts from his time in Golden State.

What does it mean? Thompson, who has won four titles with the Warriors since he was drafted in 2011, is expected to command interest on the market from several teams.

While Thompson has not spoken on the choice yet, teammate Draymond Green is very amused by the hubbub created by Thompson's social media activity.

With five-time champion Derek Fisher joining Green's eponymous podcast, the Warriors forward took an opportunity to express his genuine reaction to learning about Thompson's Instagram drama.

"I know all of you were probably looking forward to me talking about Klay unfollowing the Warriors and deleting some IG posts or something," Green said. "I had no idea that happened — I think it's f—ing hilarious. Just so y'all know, I laughed."

Green then piled on, saying: "I think that's comical, I know you all be wanting somebody's feelings to be hurt or something — it ain't that, it ain't never going to be that. That's hilarious."

Fisher, who joined the show to chat about the 2024 NBA Finals and hypothetical matchups between all-time great teams, clearly got a kick out of Green's take on the situation as well.

Thompson, 34, is coming off one of the more challenging seasons of his NBA career. His 17.9 points per game were the lowest since his sophomore season and he was relegated to a reserve role for the first time since his rookie campaign.

In Golden State's Play-In Tournament loss to Sacramento, Thompson was held scoreless on an 0-for-10 shooting night.

Despite his struggles, Thompson is expected to command interest from the Magic, 76ers and Thunder — all teams that could offer lucrative deals in the 2024 offseason.

If Thompson does move on, perhaps fans could look back to the moment he decided to unfollow Golden State on social media as a sign his tenure with the Warriors would soon come to an end.
