Good news for Warriors fans: Kendrick Lamar released his latest album, "Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers," this year.
In defeating the Mavericks in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, the Warriors punched their ticket back to the NBA Finals, where they'll face either the Celtics or Heat for another shot to win it all.
It marks Golden State's sixth Finals appearance in the last eight seasons, an incredible accomplishment in itself. The Warriors are 3-2 on the big stage during this stretch, defeating the Cavaliers three times while losing to them and the Raptors once each.
How in the world does any of this relate to Lamar? Well, it turns out that the Warriors making the Finals the same year the rap superstar drops an album is a promising sign for Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and co.
No, seriously.

As Reddit user unanimous30 pointed out, the Warriors won the championship in 2015 when Lamar released "To Pimp a Butterfly." They won again in 2017, which is the year Lamar released "DAMN." They then repeated in 2018, the year Lamar released "Black Panther: The Album."
Whenever @kendricklamar drops an album, the Warriors win the title 🔮

Want to guess what happened in 2016 when the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavaliers in the Finals? No new Kendrick. And what about 2019 when they lost to the Raptors? You guessed it — no new Kendrick.

Of course, this is all probably a crazy coincidence, but there's only one way to know for sure.
The 2022 NBA Finals begin on Thursday, June 2. Let's see if the Warriors can make it a clean Kendrick Lamar sweep. If they can, it's probably worth at least inviting him to the parade.
