NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was hospitalized after suffering a broken hip while attending a concert in Los Angeles.
The injury occurred on Friday night. It's unclear quite who was performing or where the show was. However, Abdul-Jabbar is known to have fell accidentally and struck his hip, his representative, Deborah Morales, revealed to TMZ.
Paramedics immediately tended to Abdul-Jabbar's injury, transporting him to UCLA's hospital from the venue.
Abdul-Jabbar's condition was not made public. However, Morales said that the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame was "deeply appreciative" of the support he received from the Los Angeles Fire Department and the "amazing medical team and doctors at UCLA Hospital."
Abdul-Jabbar, 76, is a stalwart in NBA circles, having recorded the second-most points in league history. He's dealt with a few medical issues over the year, being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2020 and chronic myeloid leukemia in 2008.
