New York City loves Josh Hart and evidently, Hart loves the city back.

The Knicks forward has spent the past two seasons endearing himself to fans with scrappy play and a lively personality perfectly suited for the city that never sleeps. As he gears up for his second playoff run in the blue and orange, Hart's using his hair to show love to The Big Apple.

What is in Hart's hair? Here's how he's used his braids to adopt a signature postseason look for the city.

Josh Hart's hair, explained

Hart has an interlocking NY styled into his braids for the second consecutive postseason. While not quite a one-for-one, the style draws parallels to the New York Yankees' iconic cap logo and a logo that the Knicks adopted from 1967 to 1991.

As the Knicks prepared for Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs, the team provided a look at Hart's hairstyle.

It's becoming an annual tradition for Hart, who debuted the look during the Knicks' first-round series with the Cavaliers in 2023. New York went on to win the series in five games, perhaps signaling some luck in the hairstyle.

Ahead of the playoffs, Hart hinted that the style would be coming back and flew a hairstylist from Houston to help him execute the look, according to Knicks insider Tommy Beer.

Hart enjoyed a fruitful season with the Knicks in 2023-24, posting averages of 9.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 4.1 assists over 81 games, turning in six triple-doubles in the process.

With New York across his chest — and NY in his hair — Hart will look to continue such contributions to help the 2-seed Knicks pull off a deep playoff run without All-Star Julius Randle.
