On Saturday night, the 76ers and Timberwolves will meet for the first of two times in the 2022-23 season.

It's been a rough start for both Philadelphia and Minnesota, two teams that entered the year with big expectations but have hovered around .500 through the first month of the season.

While the Wolves enter Saturday with a 7-8 record, they're riding the momentum of a two-game win streak that includes road wins over the Cavaliers and Magic. Minnesota can make it a perfect 3-0 road trip with a win over Philadelphia.

If you're a fan of the league's premier big men, this is the matchup for you.

Through 15 games, Karl-Anthony Towns is averaging 21.9 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game for the Wolves, while Rudy Gobert is averaging 14.2 points and 12.5 rebounds through 13 games. On the other end, Joel Embiid is just a few nights removed from a historic performance in which he finished with 59 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and seven blocks against the Jazz.

Will Embiid be in action when Philadelphia attempts to thwart Minnesota's budding momentum? Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming matchup.

Is Joel Embiid playing vs. Timberwolves tonight?

Embiid is not on the injury report for Saturday's game against the Timberwolves, indicating that he will play with no limitations. It is worth noting that Saturday's game is the second end of a back-to-back, but Embiid's 59-point performance last Sunday was on the second end of a back-to-back.

This season, Embiid has missed four of Philadelphia's first 15 games — one game due to knee soreness and three due to a non-COVID illness. The Sixers are 2-2 in Embiid's absence.
