Few names in the NBA carry as much weight as Celtics star Jayson Tatum.
As the best player for one of basketball’s most famous teams, Tatum is used to the spotlight at this point. That doesn’t make it any less glaring.
Tatum’s playing career garners most of the attention, but that’s not all he has going for him. In addition to a mercurial young son, Tatum’s romantic life has also made for intriguing viewing.
Here’s what you need to know about his longtime partner, R&B songstress Ella Mai.

Who is Jayson Tatum’s girlfriend?
Tatum’s current girlfriend is believed to be Ella Mai, a superstar in her own right…granted in a very different industry to Tatum’s.
Mai came to prominence in 2018 after releasing two tracks — “Boo’d Up” and “Trip” — to worldwide acclaim. A native Londoner through-and-through, Mai grew up listening to the dulcet tones of Lauryn Hill, Alicia Keys, and rap icon Missy Elliott. Her name alone seemingly presupposed musical excellence, too — her parents named her after famed jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald.
Tatum and Mai are believed to have started dating around 2020. Their first public appearance came in 2022 when both attended Michael Rubin's annual Fourth of July White Party.
To date, precious little has been revealed pertaining to Tatum and Mai's relationship. The two were pictured at Marcus Smart's wedding last fall, however. If that's any indication, the duo appears to be going strong. As previously noted, though, Tatum and Mai maintain a fairly low profile when it comes to their romantic lives, so any sort of updates in their relationship could've gone undetected.
