Jaylen Brown injury update: Celtics star out one-to-two weeks with hamstring strain image

The Celtics will have to make do without All-Star guard Jaylen Brown for the next couple of weeks.

For the second year in a row, Brown was out to a breakout start to the season, averaging 25.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game for the Celtics. He's popped up on the injury report a couple of times already, even missing a game due to left patella tendinopathy. In Boston's best win of the season against the Heat, Brown was forced to exit the game early due to a right leg injury.

He was later diagnosed with a hamstring strain that would cause him to miss the next game against the Mavericks. Now, it appears he'll miss more time beyond that.

When can the Celtics expect the 25-year-old to return to the court?

When will Jaylen Brown return for the Celtics?

The Celtics announced on Monday, Nov. 8 that Brown would miss one-to-two weeks with a right hamstring strain.

It has been a tough stretch of injuries and ailments for Brown, who, during the first All-Star season of his career, was forced to miss the 2021 NBA Playoffs after receiving season-ending wrist surgery just two weeks prior to the start of the postseason.

After an offseason of recovery, Brown contracted COVID-19 during the 2021 preseason, putting his status for opening night in jeopardy. The star guard was able to suit up, going for a career-high 46 points, but the bad luck didn't end there.

Two games later, he missed a contest against the Rockets with left patella tendinopathy. He was then able to play in Boston's next five games, but in the team's marquee win of the season to this point against the Heat on Nov. 4, Brown left the game early with an apparent right leg injury.

There will be updates to follow in the coming weeks.

What is the fantasy impact of Jaylen Brown's injury?

With Brown sidelined, Dennis Schroder slid into the starting lineup in the Celtics' game against the Mavericks.

Schroder will likely remain the interim starter, giving him an added boost in all fantasy formats with more touches and shot attempts. Marcus Smart could be another beneficiary of an increased offensive role in Brown's absence.

As for daily streaming plays, Josh Richardson becomes an option as he should see an uptick in playing time and could provide points, 3s and steals while chipping in other counting stats. Romeo Langford and Aaron Nesmith are two other potential options, although it's best to leave them on the waiver wire until (or if) their roles become solidified.
