Denver's depth will be tested early in the 2023-24 season.

In the team's seventh game, Jamal Murray exited with a hamstring injury and did not return.

It's been a bit of a slow start to the season for Murray. Through seven games, he's averaging 16.3 points on 43.3 percent shooting from the field to go along with 7.4 assists and 2.6 rebounds. He played a key role in last season's championship run, complementing Nikola Jokic with 26.1 points per game.

What is Jamal Murray's injury?

The Nuggets have listed Murray on the injury report with a right hamstring strain.

Murray suffered the injury Nov. 4 in Denver's matchup with Chicago. He exited the game with 11:10 remaining in the second quarter and did not return. He was seen walking to the locker room with a limp.

The Nuggets initially said Murray was questionable to return against the Bulls with hamstring tightness.

How long will Jamal Murray be out?

Murray is expected to miss "three to four weeks" due to his hamstring strain, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Nov. 8.

Ahead of Denver's matchup with New Orleans on Nov. 6, Malone said Murray's hamstring ailment is "not a one or two-game injury" and that it will be "longer than we like" as the Nuggets "need to have the big picture in mind," according to AltitudeTV's Katy Winge.

"You always worry about those types of injuries because they can stick around for a while," Malone said after the team's win over the Bulls. "So we have to be smart about it.”

Murray appeared in 65 of 82 regular-season games last season. He missed all of the 2021-22 season recovering from a torn ACL in his left knee.
