Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas ripped into his team for what he saw as a lack of effort in their 104-88 loss to the Warriors Friday.
“We gave up,” Thomas said, via Yahoo Sports. “The coaching staff as well. We started subbing. It was bad, especially how I only played 27 minutes. We gave up.”
Expectations were high for Boston (6-6) entering the season, but injuries to Al Horford and Jae Crowder have forced Thomas to carry much of the team's offensive burden.
Friday night was the first time this season Thomas hasn't scored more than 20 points.

“I’m not saying that’s the reason we lost,” said Thomas, who finished with 18 points on 4-of-12 shooting. “We couldn’t get stops, and they kept pouring it on. We didn’t play well on the offensive end the whole quarter. That’s the reason. I’m not saying the reason we lost was because of subs, but we went into panic mode for whatever reason, and that’s what happened. I’m upset with that.”
The Celtics' luck might soon change — both Horford (concussion) and Crowder (ankle) could be in uniform Saturday night against the Pistons.
