Immanuel Quickley injury update: Knicks guard to miss Game 4 vs. Heat with sprained ankle image

The Knicks have fallen into a 2-1 series deficit in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. To make matters worse, they will be without a key player moving forward.

Late in New York's Game 3 loss to Miami, Sixth Man of the Year runner-up Immanuel Quickley was forced to leave the court because of an ankle injury. It was yet another tough blow for a team that now has multiple stars dealing with injuries.

What does this mean for Quickley and the Knicks in their pursuit of a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals? Here is what we know about his injury and status moving forward.

What is Immanuel Quickley's injury?

While diving for a loose ball, Heat center Bam Adebayo fell on Quickley's left leg. A hobbled Quickley eventually made his way to the locker room and did not return to the game.

Here is the play in which Quickley was injured:

After Game 3, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters that Quickley has a sprained left ankle. On Monday, the team officially ruled him out of Game 4 with the injury.

The Knicks now enter a game they desperately need to win without the services of their rising star.

Quickley has largely struggled against the Heat so far, posting averages of 9.0 points per game while shooting 35.7 percent from the field and 18.8 percent from 3-point range.

How long will Immanuel Quickley be out?

Quickley's recovery timeline will be dependent on the severity of the sprain.

Strangely enough, Quickley is the fourth Knick to deal with an ankle injury this postseason, with Josh Hart and Julius Randle both missing time because of ankle injuries. Jalen Brunson hasn't missed time, but he has played through an ankle injury this postseason as well.

The Sporting News will provide updates on Quickley's status as they become available.
