Atlanta Hawks superstar Trae Young would’ve been calling a new city home this year if the offseason trade market was better, per Tim MacMahon. Trae’s superstar teammate Dejounte Muray was already traded in the offseason, making it seem like Trae would be on his way as well.

“The simple fact of the matter is if there was a real market for Trae Young he’d be somewhere else right now,” said MacMahon. “It’s not like they got some kind of wild blockbuster return for Dejounte Murray.”

The Hawks did not get much for Murray, who was an All-Star with the San Antonio Spurs in 2022. All they received were Dyson Daniels, Larry Nance Jr, and two first-round picks, one in 2025 and one in 2027.

Trae is a multiple time All-Star, and has career averages of 25.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, 9.5 assists, and a steal per game. Unfortunately for Trae, he is stuck on one of the most mediocre teams in the NBA. Teams like the LA Lakers, the LA Clippers, the Orlando Magic, and the Miami Heat would all massively benefit from his talent, but they wouldn’t give anything up for him.

So, until teams are ready to part with players or their futures, Trae will be stuck wasting his prime on a borderline play-in team.
