Grizzlies vs. Kings prediction: Betting odds and best bets for 2024 NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas image

The Grizzlies started this week in the Las Vegas portion of the Summer League, while the Kings opened the summer up in the California League. On Friday evening, they will face each other in the NBA2k25 Summer League at the Cox Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center in Vegas (6 p.m. ET).

All in attendance will be crossing their fingers to see Grizzlies big man Zach Edey, who skyrocketed up the BetMGM Rookie of the Year odds board after his strong Summer League debut (14 points, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, 7-12 shooting).

Kings fans, meanwhile, will look forward to watching emerging two-guard Keon Ellis and a slimmed-down Mason Jones. Ellis dropped 30 points on the Warriors on Wednesday, while Jones put up 12 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists.

Let's take a quick look at this exciting Summer League matchup, unveiling the BetMGM odds and making our final score prediction and best bets.

Grizzlies vs. Kings NBA Summer League: Odds

All odds courtesy of BetMGM, an authorized gaming operator of the NBA.

  • Moneyline: Grizzlies -140 | Kings +115
  • Spread: Grizzlies -2.5 (-110) | Kings +2.5 (-110)
  • Over/under: O 183.5 (-110) | U 183.5 (-110)

The Grizzlies opening as slight favorites suggests that oddsmakers expect Edey to suit up after being listed as a "DNP — Coach's decision" in Memphis's game against the 76ers on Tuesday and Thunder on Wednesday. The -140 moneyline translates to an implied win probability of a little over 58 percent.

Grizzlies vs. Kings NBA Summer League: Betting prediction

The Grizzlies have looked pretty good with and without Edey so far this Summer, going 1-2 in their three games against the Jazz, Sixers, and Thunder. Each of those three games has been decided by three points or fewer.

Edey and older players Scotty Pippen, GG Jackson, and Jake LaRavia looked very good for Memphis early in the week. Then Edey's fellow rookies Cam Spencer and Jaylen Wells shined when those others took a seat. The Grizzlies, as they have in years past, appear to be coaching up their young assets well.

The Kings, however, counter with a very strong Summer League team. Ellis, who played a role in Sacramento's 2024 playoff run, probably hopes to secure himself a similar opportunity this upcoming season. Jones, meanwhile, is simply battling for his NBA rotational life.

Sacramento has demonstrated a nice balance of outside shooting and dominant rebounding. The Kings shot 11-of-31 from deep against the Dubs on Wednesday and out-rebounded Golden State 44-32. If Edey plays Friday, he should be able to counter Sac-town's board-crashing.

That said, it's tough to love Memphis here either way. The Kings have too much experience, too hot a backcourt, and they're shooting too well from the 3-point line to be getting 2.5 points. The Grizz haven't won by three in any of their three one-possession games this week — don't bet them to suddenly cover against a sneaky-good Sacramento team now.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: Kings 91, Grizzlies 87 — Sacramento wins (+115) and covers the +2.5 spread (-110) and the final score finishes UNDER the projected over/under of 183.5 (-110).
