Grant Williams injury update: Celtics forward suffers bloodied face after accidental stomp from Joel Embiid image

There was a scary scene in Philadelphia as Celtics forward Grant Williams was left bloodied by an inadvertent run-in with Joel Embiid.

In the fourth quarter of Game 3 between Boston and Philadelphia, Williams was forced to briefly exit the game after having his head stepped on by Embiid.

How serious was Williams' injury and what does it mean for the Celtics moving forward? Here's what we know about his status.

What is Grant Williams' injury?

Williams was not diagnosed with an actual injury but his injury required attention from Celtics medical staffers, who worked to stop bleeding from his mouth.

Here is the play where Williams was injured:

(Warning, the play is gruesome.)

As nasty as the injury appeared to be, Williams was able to return to the court after briefly receiving attention. Williams passed all necessary tests required to return to play.

He also harbored no ill-will toward Embiid for the play.

How long will Grant Williams be out?

Barring any setbacks postgame, Williams is expected to be available to play in Game 4 on Sunday.

It is unclear whether or not the fall caused any damage to Williams' teeth or nose.
