Three-time All-Star Ben Simmons' trade value decreases year-over-year, not holding serious interest from other teams since his fourth season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The former No. 1 pick thrived in Philadelphia, but multiple issues forced him off the court in recent years. His market decreased so much with the Brooklyn Nets, there is reportedly "zero interest" around the league.
"Ben Simmons, who is entering the final year of his contract and set to make $40.3 million, holds zero trade interest around the NBA this offseason, league sources told ClutchPoints," NBA Insider of ClutchPoints Brett Siegel wrote. "It is possible that a team looking to clear up immediate cap space for 2025 could want an expiring contract like Simmons' ahead of the trade deadline."
The lack of interest in Simmons is understandable, considering he's appeared in just 57 games over the past three seasons. The statistical dropoff is also likely playing a part, despite tremendous amounts of potential somewhere inside him. He averaged 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists on 58.1% shooting last season.
None of these factors are the biggest reason that front offices are steeling clear, but instead, it's his lucrative contract. He is set to earn roughly $40.3 million next season before hitting unrestricted free agency next offseason.
